Year 13 — Sport

Term 1: Unit 2 - Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being/Unit 4 - Sports Leadership

Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being: Students explore the process required for screening clients and assessing their lifestyle and nutritional intake. Students explore how to make judgements on a specific individual's current lifestyle and make modifications. Students learn different fitness training methods and select the most suitable method of training to improve an individual's fitness, health and overall well-being.

Sports Leadership: Students develop confidence in a variety of different roles including coach, referee, umpire, captain and personal trainer. Students learn the requirements of effective leadership, developing knowledge and understanding of a leader's skills, qualities and characteristics.

All students are assessed in each unit in line with the Assessment Objectives (AO1-5). Each theoretical unit is assessed through half termly written exam papers. Unit 2 (Fitness Training and Programming) is assessed externally via Pearsons in January and June. Unit 4 Sports Leadership is internally assessed. Students will be required to produce two assignments across the academic year.
