St Andrew the Apostle School marked the feast day of our patron saint with special assemblies and a visit to church.
His Eminence Bishop Athanasios on Wednesday (30 November) invited a group of students to participate in the official liturgy dedicated to St Andrew the Apostle at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Virgin Mary in Wood Green.
Deputy Headteacher, Mr Vassiliou, said: “Every year we make an important point of marking the feast day of St Andrew the Apostle, who is also the patron saint of our school. We are so grateful for the support and spiritual guidance we receive from the Greek Orthodox Church and we wanted to ensure that St Andrew’s was represented on such an important day by student ambassadors.”
On Tuesday (29 November) Rev’d Oeconomos Fr. John Hookway led special assemblies for the whole school in North London Business Park. He taught students about the life of St Andrew before leading prayers.
The school’s Thought for the Week also enabled students to focus on the words of St Andrew: "Love is acceptance. When you love someone you take them into your heart, and that is surely why it hurts so much when we lose someone we love, because we lose a part of ourselves.
