KS4 Curriculum Guide - Year 10 Greek
Term 1Identity and Culture    
Students will consider personal identity, daily life, food and drink, shopping, role models, social media and technology and socialising with family and friends. Students will learn how to introduce themselves in Greek and describe their everyday life and routine.l Also, they will learn how to describe what they do in their free time, explaining their interests and their hobbies.
Assessment: Reading, writing and listening assessment. 50 minute test. Based on the main features covered during Term 1. Students will also practice exam style techniques as the format of the assessment will be similar to the final exam.Key Words and Terms
 
Term 2School  
Students will discuss and write about subjects, school activities and events, school types, rules and pressures, celebrating success and ambitions and further study. Students will be familiar with the vocabulary about stating the different school subjects and describing their context.Also, they will learn how to express their opinion about school life and pressures. In addition, they will enrich their vocabulary about studies and aspiration, while they will consider topics regarding their future aspirations and work experience.
Assessment: Reading, writing and listening assessment. 50 minute test. Based on the main topics covered during Term 2. Speaking is practiced in lesson.Key Words and Terms
 
Term 3Future Aspirations    
Students will consider work, travel and employment, forming relationships.
Assessment: Reading, writing and listening assessment. 50 minute test. Based on the main topics covered during Term 3. Speaking is practiced in lesson. However, topics covered in previous terms will be included on the assessment.Key Words and Terms
 
Term 4Holidays and Travel   
Students will consider tourist transactions, asking for help and dealing with problems, directions, travel and accommodation. Also, they will learn about different types of holidays, different types of accommodation while also will be able to consider different destinations and cultures.
Assessment: Reading, writing and listening assessment. 50 minute test. Based on the main topics covered during Term 4. Speaking assessment within class time with pictorial source, role play and discussion in pairs.However, topics covered in previous terms will be included on the assessment.Key Words and Terms
 
Term 5Locations  
Students will consider locations including the local area, towns, cities and countries, they will become familiar with weather expressions and consider holiday destinations/experiences.Students will gain the vocabulary which will enable them to describe in detail their neighborhood and/or places that they have visited in the past.Also, they will practice on writing and listening tasks about describing different ares, state their opinions about them.
Assessment: End of Year 10 examination Students sit the four papers in exam conditions and are graded according to the GCSE grade boundaries.Potential Foundation or Higher Tier students will be guided to the correct end of Year examination. Listening – in formal exam situation (35/45 mins) Speaking – Pictorial, role play and discussion (21/24 mins) Reading in formal exam situation (1h and 15min/ 1h and 25min) Writing in formal exam situation (50 min/ 1h and 5min) Key Words and Terms
 
Term 6International and Global Dimensions 
Students will consider: International and Global dimensions, bringing the world together, sports and music events, campaigns and good causes, environmental issues.
Assessment: Reading, Writing and Listening exam based on the Term 6 topic. Listening is practiced in class. However, the assessment includes all the topics that students learnt in Y10.Key Words and Terms
