Term 1T’es branché(e)?   
In this unit pupils learn to talk extensively about their taste in books and films, describe their use of the internet and the weather, review the regular use of the present tense and learn some of the irregular forms.
Assessment: For the first assessment of Year 8, students will be tested on Listening, Reading and Writing. Key Words and Terms
 
Term 2Paris, je t’adore !   
In this unit pupils learn the key language for visiting a foreign city, using on peut and opinions (j’aime + infinitive). They also develop their use of questioning and discover the perfect tense in detail
Assessment: Students will be assessed on Listening, Reading, Writing and Translation. The assessment will mainly include structures and vocabulary from the current unit, but also recall on prior knowledge. Key Words and Terms
 
Term 3Mon identité   
In this unit pupils learn to talk about themselves extensively, by describing theirs and other people’s personality, hobbies, and taste in music and clothing. Grammar: more on irregular present tense and perfect tense.
Assessment: Students will be assessed on Listening, Reading, Speaking and Translation. The assessment will mainly include structures and vocabulary from the current unit, but also recall on prior knowledge. For the Speaking, students will prepare answers to a series of questions in lesson prior to the assessment, and will be individually asked these same questions to be assessed on communication, content and pronunciation/ fluency.Key Words and Terms
 
Term 4Chez moi, chez toi   
In this unit pupils learn to talk about where they live extensively and about food (eating and shopping), by using il faut+ infinitive. They also approach the near future tense in more detail.
Assessment: Students will be assessed on Listening, Reading, Writing and Translation. The assessment will mainly include structures and vocabulary from the current unit, but also recall on prior knowledge. Students should be particularly mindful of using and understanding a range of verb tenses. Key Words and Terms
 
Term 5Quel talent?!   
In this unit pupils learn to talk about their particular skills by taking part in a talent show. They express their opinion on the contestants and give them advice, using the imperative.
Assessment: Students will be assessed on Listening, Reading, Writing and Translation. The assessment will mainly include structures and vocabulary from the current unit, but also recall on prior knowledge. In Writing, pupils should be aiming to use a wide range of vocabulary to demonstrate their ability to use language in a range of contexts. Key Words and Terms
 
Term 6Studio découverte   
This unit is about applying French language to explicitly cross-curricular situations: Geography, Science and History, with extensive reading and presentations. Grammar: using a range of tense.
Assessment: In the End of Year assessment, students will complete Listening, Reading and Translation tasks, and will impress us with their Writing. This assessment will cover the content we have studied throughout the whole year as well as prior knowledge from Year 7. Key Words and Terms
