Term 2: Dangerous Society Online and Offline

Students will learn about County Lines - what is it and who is at risk, substance misuse, online safety - cyber bullying, grooming, drugs/alcohol safety, child exploitation and online protection.

Term 3: Identity, Relationships and Sex Education

In this unit students will learn about healthy relationships, dealing with conflict, sexual orientation, gender identity, introduction to contraception, what is love, and periods and the menstrual cycle.

Term 4: Physical Health and Mental Well-being

In this unit students will build on their understanding of health and well-being, mental health, positive body image, child abuse, types of bullying, healthy eating and cholesterol, stress management, and tooth decay and oral hygiene.

Healthy eating is simply eating adequate, well-balanced meals to support your body’s needs.

Stress

A state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or demanding circumstances.

Tooth decay

Decay of the outer surface of a tooth as a result of bacterial action.

Term 5: Law, Crime and Society

In this Citizenship based unit students will consider desert island living: building a community, making decisions, criminals, law and society, law making in the UK, prisons, and reform and punishment.

This unit explores what is meant by LGBT, homophobia in school and society, supporting those that are LGBT, challenging homophobia, transphobia, coming out.
