Term 1: Book III: Aquae Sulis and Defixio (Stages 21-22)

In these units students will become familiar with the Perfect passive and active participles as well as the formation of adjectives and adverbs. In terms of cultural background we examine the following topics: Aquae Sulis and its baths, Magic and curses in Roman times.

Assessment based on Term 1 topic. Students will be tested in a 50 min assessment, covering both language and grammar features and some classical civilisation questions.

Develop the individual:

In this unit students become familiar with several aspects of the classical civilisation and extend their knowledge learning about different cultures. Students also, develop their critical thinking, learning about a complex grammatical structure as well as they enrich their vocabulary, focusing on translation and derivtives.

Create a supportive community:

Students are called to go back in time and explore different habits and cultures, focusing on different cultures and background.

Term 2: Book III:Haruspex and Fuga (Stages 23-24)

In these units students will learn how to form the Plural of neuter nouns and how to identify and translate correctly the Imperfect and Pluperfect subjunctive. The civilisation topics that we are going to explore this term are the Roman religion and Travel and Communication in the Roman world.

Students will be formally assessed in a 50 min assessment during lesson. The assessment will include both language, reading comprehension and classical civilisation tasks.

In this unit, students will explore different aspects of the the roman civilisation and they will extend their horizons by learning about roman religion, travel and communication. In this way students will focus on the importance of progress through year but also the importance of learning the history of a civilisation.

Students will need to cooperate, exchange ideas and discuss about roman civilisation and its different aspects.Through this process they will understand and value the importance of diversity and they will appreciate the influences.

Term 3: Book III:Milites and Agricola (Stages 25-26)

In these units, students will learn how to identify and translate accurately the Indirect questions and the Purpose Clauses. In addition, the civilisation topics that we are going to examine are the Roman army and Agricola, governor of Britain.

Student will be assessed formally in a 50 min exam during lesson. The assessment will include both language, reading comprehension and classical civilisation tasks.

Term 4: Book III:In castris and Imperium (Stages 27-28)

In these units students will learn how to translate accurately Indirect commands, Result Clauses and Ablative case nouns.

The civilisation topic that we are going to explore this term is the legionary fortress. In addition, students will become familiar with interpreting the evidence: literary, archaeological and inscriptional.

Students will be assessed in a formal 50 min assessment. The assessment will include both language, reading comprehension and civilisation tasks.

In these units students will learn how to identify and translate the Perfect and pluperfect passive tense verbs. The main civilisation topics that we are going to examine this term are the Jews and the Romans as well the different Roman building techniques.

Student will be assessed through the end of year exam, which will include everything that has been covered in Component - Language and Grammar paper. Assessment will held in exam conditions and paper will be marked based in GCSE grade boundaries.
