PAREAS - COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN
Yiannis is a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects with his own practice in West Hampstead, London. He was born in Limassol, Cyprus, and came to England to study architecture in 1968. Yiannis is a Chair of the West End Conservation Area Committee, a Governor of Woodstock College, Finchley Central, and Chair of Mill Lane Traders Association. He is passionate about the need to establish a Greek Orthodox School in North London to sustain the Greek Language, culture and heritage in the Greek Community.
SAVVAS AGATHANGELOU BSc. MSc. DIS
Savvas studied Industrial Chemistry and Biochemical Engineering and spent more than 35 years in senior positions in the Food Manufacturing Industry before setting up his own Food Consultancy. He is a long serving Governor and Audit Committee Chairman and member of the Board of Directors of Career Academies UK at Woodhouse College. Savvas is an active member of the Secretariat of the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK, General Secretary of DESY UK and Chairman of Cypriot Estia of London. He has also served on Community Greek Schools committees, is a past Chairman of the Independent Greek Schools of England and founding member of EFEPE.
COSTAS FRANGESKIDES BA (Hons)
Costas is a Solicitor who was born in London to parents from Famagusta, Cyprus and Chios, Greece. He studied politics and the law before joining the City law practice of Holman Fenwick Willan where he is a Partner. He is deputy co-ordinator of Lobby for Cyprus and also a member of a number of professional organisations (e.g.BILA, IBA). His children attend part-time evening Greek Schools and he is passionate about the need to continue and maintain Greek culture through the future generations.
MRS MARIA FRANGESKIDES LLB (Hons)
Maria was born in London to Greek Cypriot parents. She went to the Henrietta Barnett School then read law at University College London and took her professional examinations at the College of Law, Chancery Lane. Maria is a partner at a City law firm, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe (Europe) LLP, specialising in international arbitration and commercial litigation. She is a CEDR accredited mediator and a member of a number of organisations including the ICC and the LCIA.
MRS MARY KARAOLIS OBE, BEd(Hons), MA, NPQH, FCollT
Mary is a retired Headteacher of The Ravenscroft School Barnet and was awarded an OBE in HM the Queen's 2009 birthday honours list for her services to education. Mary is also a School Improvement Partner and Education Consultant Leader. She continues to be active within Education and her local community. She is Chairman of the London Borough of Barnet Mayor’s Charities Committee and serves on a number of committees. She also plays an active part in the Greek community including as President of the Association of Rizokarpasso in Britain and is an active member of the Secretariat of the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK. She is married to Andreas and has three sons.
MRS MARINA PAREAS BSc,
MSc, Dip.MRS, MBPS
Marina is a psychology graduate and runs her own research consultancy specialising in education and training. She has extensive experience in human resource research, project management and executive development with government agencies and the education sector. Previously, Marina was a member of the senior management team at the Hotel and Catering Industry Training Board, and played a key role in developing national occupational standards, and seeking recognition of qualifications across the UK tourism and hospitality industry. Marina has a Masters in Survey Research Methods and Practice and is an approved Psychometric Test user. She is a member of the British Psychological Society and a Diploma member of the Market Research Society. Marina has also had her work published in a number of industry and government journals.
MR THEO THEODOROU MBA
Theo is the Chief Executive Officer and Director of International Affairs of Global Education Counselling (GEC). He has wide experience in the educational field particularly in providing for the needs of overseas students aspiring to University entrance. He has been responsible for establishing the GEC network of overseas recruitment offices and the International Degree Foundation Programme and Pre Masters programmes. In addition to the establishment of the colleges and curricula, he has also been responsible for developing the strong links with the partner Universities on which the success of GEC depends.
