St Andrew the Apostle School is moving into its own building on the North London Business Park for our opening in September 2013. We are using the existing ‘Block 5’ for the first three years while our school is built at the front of the Park, bordering Brunswick Park Road.
RET along with the governors and headteacher have worked closely with the site’s owners and the Department for Education (DfE) to secure the site. Barnet Council and the local MP, Teresa Villiers, have all been enormously supportive of the school.
In September 2013 our founding Year 7 will enjoy very good educational facilities; because we will occupy the building at NLBP which was originally occupied by Barnet College (this is the building just behind the location of our meeting on Wednesday 27th February). The building already has a kitchen, dining room, science laboratories and space for dance, drama, art and music as well as ample classroom space. Outdoor recreation, sport and social areas will also be safely enclosed as part of the school site. This building is big enough for our needs for the first three to four years.
During the period May to August 2013 the building will be redecorated, furnished and equipped for our founding students. We will be installing a new ICT, drawing on the best practice in RET’s existing schools. Parents who saw these facilities on Saturday 16th March 2013 were delighted.
We plan to remain on NLBP permanently. Our specialist advisers from RET are in regular communication with the Council, DfE and the owners, Comer Group about the best way to develop the site which is the whole of the southern corner of the site, from the existing ‘Block 6’ down to Brunswick Park Lane. This is a beautiful site with plenty of room for a brand new school building with specialist teaching facilities and outdoor sport.
